UK & EMEA Primavera Conference 2012

On the 8th March 2012, the UK Oracle User Group invited a whole host of Project Controls professionals that use their Primavera tools, to join them in an event set to bring the UK Primavera User community together, and it certainly didn’t disappoint!

Discussions on P6 implementation projects and the project planning techniques used on the Olympics gave a fascinating insight into what it’s taken to bring such a huge undertaking in on time.

EDF Energy enlightened the crowds with a Primavera P6 presentation, giving a deeper insight into time pressures, scheduling and reporting, showing exactly how much detail goes into planning major projects.

The mix of industries represented, coupled with a wide variety of discussions covering all elements of planning and project controls made the event an invaluable day for those who attended.

As you might expect Technology Resourcing exhibited and I enjoyed meeting with several new contacts as well as many more familiar faces. I also managed to make off with an invaluable swag of goodies, including:

  • A Critigen metal flask
  • An Alpha Corp pen and drinks coaster
  • A Milestone branded memory card (1GB)
  • An UKOUG neoprene  laptop sleeve
  • And more chocolates than one man could possibly eat, which naturally I shared with the girls on the Alpha stand, because I’m a gent (and they threatened me with physical violence if I didn’t!).

Not a bad day’s graft, but I’m hoping to improve on this at next week’s Project Challenge at Olympia. I will of course post my stash in due course…
