Our client is a leading specialised consultancy, working with financial houses, retail groups and globally iconic brands. They are now looking for two Systems Administrators to take up a key role in the organisation, and become integral to their plans going forward. This is a company with fantastic career opportunities – as well as an extremely low staff turnover. It’s important to note that these positions have come about through expansion as opposed to the need for replacements.
The key function of this role will be the handling of systems maintenance of many different environments (both internal and client facing) alongside the existing devops team, making use of their scripts/tools/best practices. The Sys Admin will be responsible for performance tuning, security hardening and system upgrades of production grade distributed systems. The main objective of the role is to provide the customer with a working solution that delivers against their needs of a Big Data platform. The environments and constraints that the Customer operates in will very much define the type of solution provided.
Responsibilities:
● Administration of many physical systems, VMs, containers etc.
● Security hardening activities
● Maintenance and monitoring of our internal cloud infrastructure services
● Installations of Hadoop and other software distributions such as Hortonworks and MapR
● Configuration and integration of Big Data frameworks with enterprise monitoring systems
● Take advantage of configuration management tools for expedited and consistent delivery
● Supply feature requests and bug fixes to devops tools.
Required Skills:
Mandatory
● Unix Administration
● AWS Administration
● Active Directory/LDAP Administration
● Familiarity with Monitoring Systems e.g. Zabbix/ELK/SNMP based alerting
● Kerberos Administration
Desirable
● Windows Administration
● Hadoop Admin experience
● Experience in using Virtualisation and Cloud Based Technologies (Google Cloud, Azure, Openstack, VMWare)
● Atlassian Admin experience
● Experience in administering, configuring and debugging networks (Firewall, DNS, Routing)
● Admin experience on at least one SQL DB, Oracle, Mysql, Postgres, etc.
● Understanding of using Automation Tools, e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet etc.
● Experience with Procuring, Deploying and Maintaining Hardware
● Experience of working within a Continuous Delivery Architecture Environment.
