Senior Software Developer/Architect

This is a really exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, well-funded, early stage software company who are revolutionising the way companies across an entire global industry engage digitally with their consumers. They already have an impressive portfolio of clients in the UK, US and Asia, and have just secured considerable investment to continue their expansion. Reporting to the CTO (a highly regarded software veteran, who still codes), you will grow your career as the company grows.

Their internal dev team concentrate their efforts on the back-end platform, a modular solution with REST APIs, while their mobile apps are mostly developed offshore, but they are looking for someone with an interest in the overall solution architecture and how their clients apply their software.

They are now looking for a Senior / Lead Developer with experience across a breadth of technologies and programming languages and with a solid understanding of the underlying programming principles, rather than a specialist in just one or two particular languages. Their back-end core is built in Python, with Django REST framework, so experience of either would be an advantage, but is not mandatory as it’s more important to find the right person who can cross-train on the job. You will however be comfortable programming in Java, C++, Ruby, PHP etc with API and Linux experience.

They use AWS for hosting their ELB, RDS and S3 services and Ubunto Linux and Salt Cloud to manage instances, along with RabbitMQ and Celery. They have a web portal in Angular JS and use Github, Slack, Docker and Jenkins to manage code and deployment. For data analysis (an area they’re increasingly focusing on) they use Python / Jupyter, R, Tensor Flow and Spark and their development team are now spending increasing time and effort looking at how best to apply AI, machine learning and neural networks to their solutions.

As you would expect from an accelerating software company, Agile Scrum experience would also be useful as would experience of CI and CD methodologies.
