Senior Enterprise Architect (Corporate Finance)

This highly successful, PE-owned, eCommerce company are accelerating their already impressive growth, by doubling headcount in the next two years and targeting a staggering €10bn turnover by 2028.
To scale at this pace they are hiring a Senior Enterprise Architect, to lead a small team of Finance Domain Architects, working across: Financial Reporting (statutory reporting); Financial Management (financial planning and budgeting, settlements & payments and treasury & tax management); Accounting (reconciliations, indirect purchasing, general ledger, asset management and banking).
OVERVIEW
This role reports directly to their VP of Engineering and will partner closely with the CFO, Engineering Directors and many other tech leaders, Engineers and PMs to ensure implementation meets design expectations. You will develop detailed solution roadmaps for a well-defined set of capabilities or logical group of systems, services and projects, driving results through strong cross-functional collaboration. You will be the EA SME for Corporate Finance, working closely with other EAs, based in three different European offices, who are all open-minded, highly collaborative, enjoy bouncing ideas around and embrace lean architectural approaches and solutions, updating their knowledge through regular workshops and conferences.
- Lead the definition of project requirements and success criteria along with guiding the design throughout the development lifecycle, collaborating with BAs, PMs, POs, Engineers and other Architects
- Work with IT and their Domain Architects to design integrated solutions and support appropriate build vs. buy decisions, translating business capability requirements by integration with infrastructure, application and data.
- Collaborate with other Enterprise & Area Architects to ensure consistency and alignment.
- Present at Architecture Design Reviews.
- Proactively align with key stakeholders; Seek organizational context and apply learnings to architecture solutions; Be comfortable working with diverse technical and business teams.
- Evaluate, document and escalate alterations to future state architectures.
- Communicates trade-offs in different types of engineering and architecture processes and adjust your team’s process to meet the needs of others and the project.
- Help grow and strengthen the wider architecture community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop overall product architecture vision that is also aligned with IT infrastructure.
- Develop architecture and design for General Ledger Accounting, Customer/Vendor Invoices & Payments and Record-to-Report processes.
- Analyse and translate business requirements into architectural blueprints using standard enterprise solutions wherever possible.
- Determine optimal approach to develop and deliver required functionality from financial, architectural and operational perspectives.
- Provide visibility of the Enterprise/Domain Architecture and validate associated development efforts.
- Plan and lead Legacy-to-Enterprise transformation initiatives
- Review and assess new Enterprise products and offerings
- Drive guidelines & policies to govern product development efforts.
- Ensure efficient interaction of product landscape.
- Ensure overall quality of the software architecture for the corporate finance domain, including:
- Financial Reporting & Management
- Accounting
- Operative Planning
- Financial Planning and Budgeting
- AP, AR and Invoicing
- Create architecture blueprints.
- Maintain overall state and foresee future needs in IT and technology.
- Help product teams in their daily work and maintain hands-on technical expertise
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrable experience as an Enterprise Architect, including solution design, integration and governance
- Thorough working knowledge of Corporate / Central Finance ie Financial (stat) Reporting, Financial Management (financial planning and budgeting, settlements & payments and treasury & tax management) and Accounting (reconciliations, indirect purchasing, general ledger, asset management and banking).
- SAP experience, including S/4HANA Finance (and ideally also Central Finance) and/or ECC FICO
- Working knowledge of EDI, 3PL integration, B2B integrations
- Technical leadership skills
- Excellent knowledge of architecture approaches/paradigms and technology alternatives
- Able to understand problems both from business and technical perspective and design appropriate solutions
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, influencing and conflict resolution skills
- Experienced in driving project and agile methodologies
- A passion for sharing with others and continued professional development
- Previous e-commerce or retail experience is preferred, but not mandatory
- Excellent English, both spoken and written
This Senior EA role, leads a team of 3 central finance system Domain Architects. Our client is looking for a naturally positive, optimistic person who will thrive in an open, collaborative environment, sharing knowledge, ideas and skills to build helpful and productive relationships across the organisation.
Salary will be commensurate with a Senior / Lead / Principal Enterprise Architect role, along with an annual 25% bonus (which pays from 0-140%, based on individual and company performance) and a range of other benefits.
Finally, this is a hybrid working role requiring you to be in their Munich (city centre) office an average of 3 days a week, but you can work from home the other days. We are also happy to relocate the right individual from elsewhere.
