We have been retained to fulfil an excellent opportunity. This Planning Manager opportunity has been made available for an experienced individual with strong background in large rail infrastructure projects (value up to £50m).
Essential Requirements:
• A detailed understanding of Rail technologies, including but not limited to: Signalling, Track (P-Way), Structures (tunnels, bridges, earthworks, embankments, buildings, structures, gantries, access platforms etc), Electrification & Plant and Telecoms. Experience of managing interfaces with other railway engineering disciplines
• Excellent understanding for how projects are designed, procured, constructed and commissioned
• An expert user of Primavera P6
• Experienced in producing compliant programmes that are logically robust, cost and resource loaded and covers the scope of work across all stages of the project
• Thorough understanding of Network Rail GRIP and London Underground processes and their associated Project Control requirements
• Experience of various forms of contract, including NEC
• Experience of Schedule Risk analysis
• Experience of Claims analysis
• Experienced in Tender Planning
• Experience of working with company Enterprise systems
• Detailed knowledge of Project Controls techniques including Earned Value Management, data analysis and trend analysis.
• Experience of working on large projects up to £50m
• Experienced Engineering Professional with a qualification in Mechanical/Civil Engineering preferred
• Member of the APM preferred
Candidates will be expected to:
• Lead and develop the Planning team
• Manage all aspects of the Projects programme
• Represent Project Controls, attend and lead client progress meetings
• Responsible for the completion of projects to time and cost
• Provision of project performance data, project schedules and reports in a concise and timely manner as required by the projects teams and Senior Managers
• Identify project risks, deviations and slippages; reports and communicates issues to senior members of the Project Controls and Project Management team
• Analyse current and future workloads to ensure Planning responsibilities and commitments can be achieved
• Communicate all issues within the programme are highlighted to Senior Management
• Prioritise and allocate workload, checking achievements and providing constructive feedback, leadership and management
• Familiar with commercial and financial aspects of project management
• Build and maintain client relationships
• Have a good understanding of Rail technologies and markets
• Deliver the Period Programme Update on a period by period basis
• Supervise junior members of the team within a busy environment
