Senior Planning Engineers / Project Schedulers (MS Project)
Central London (with regular national travel)
12 month renewable contract
£400-470 per day

We’re resourcing a team of Project Planners, to provide consultancy support and subject matter expertise to over 300 critical public sector clients across the UK, as part of a large (>£1bn) tech transition programme.

Specifically, you will be working with end-user clients across the UK to:

  • Produce schedules (inc project readiness, activities and milestones) for base lining
  • Review client’s schedules to ensure they include the specified tasks and milestones to enable effective tracking and reporting
  • Review and validate project activity durations
  • Verify the critical path of individual project plans and advise the PM team of significant risks/issues/concerns that need to be investigated or escalated
  • Advise clients on planning best practise and ensure schedules are accurately and efficiently updated with any issues and or delays reported through the tracking and reporting tools and via the national plan.
  • Ensure the local project staff have the requisite 3ES experience and expertise

As well as supporting the end clients, you will also be assisting the group’s national PM’s, Planning and Reporting Managers in the production of group transition plans and updating/ maintaining thereafter.

Essential requirements:

  • At least 5 years leading the planning of major complex programmes
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Project
  • Previous experience with technology, telecoms or other service based delivery programmes
  • Strong communications (verbal and written) and effective interpersonal skills, with a consultative and supportive manner and the confidence to deal with people at all levels
  • Proven ability to influence planning teams to achieve optimal time, cost and performance goals
  • Proactive, able to work well both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Able to train planning techniques and the use of MSP to others
  • Previous experience with technology, telecoms or other service based delivery programmes
  • Degree qualified or equivalent project/industry experience
  • Certified Practitioner in one of the recognised PM methodologies eg PMI, APM or Prince2 (or failing this, at least demonstrable knowledge and experience working in such an environment)
  • The ability to obtain security clearance equivalent to SC level, including having been a UK resident for the past 3 years

Desirable requirements

  • Experience of working on government or other public sector programmes

Please note: These roles are based from central London, but will require extensive travel (<75% of your time) across the UK to provide the necessary support and advice, for which expenses will be reimbursed.
