Senior FinOps Consultant (German and English speaking)
Location: DACH region: Germany, Austria or Switzerland
Our client, a highly regarded consulting and advisory practice, is looking to hire another Senior FinOps Consultant to continue their expansion across the DACH region. This is a fully remote role, open to candidates based in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, provided you are fluent in both German and English.
You will work directly with C-level and senior stakeholders, delivering independent, high-impact FinOps consulting services across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, through governance, operating model design, tooling implementation and organizational change.
The Opportunity
This role requires deep technical expertise along with a consultative, client-facing approach, as you will be guiding organisations through the full FinOps lifecycle, from maturity assessment and initial discovery, through implementation or optimisation, to value realisation/validation. You will also be helping to grow their FinOps practice.
Working alongside other leading FinOps and TBM specialists, you will need to hit the ground running, acting as a trusted advisor, translating business, financial and operational goals into scalable, sustainable FinOps solutions that are embedded for long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver FinOps engagements: maturity assessments, operating model design, tooling implementation, optimization sprints
- Work directly with client stakeholders, including IT, finance, application engineering, and C-level, to drive accountability and change
- Configure and optimize FinOps tooling (native tooling/Cloudability and others); deliver insight, not just dashboards
- Support cost allocation design, tagging governance, commitment management and reporting across multi-cloud environments
- Contribute to proposals, scoping and client development as the DACH practice grows
- Use AI tooling actively in your daily work to move faster, build smarter and deliver better outcomes for clients
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in FinOps, cloud cost management or cloud economics, ideally including hands-on experience with IBM/Apptio Cloudability
- Strong understanding of AWS, Azure and/or GCP cost structures and optimisation levers
- Fluent in German and English (written and spoken), as you will be working with clients in both languages
- Able to drive organizational change, not just configure tools or build reports
- Operationally independent from day one – able to structure an engagement, run a workshop and write your own proposals
- Comfortable with ambiguity and adaptable to a start-up environment where not everything is defined in advance
- Active daily user of AI tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor or equivalent). AI capable rather than simply AI-aware
- Confident operating independently from day one and comfortable with the ambiguity that comes with a growing consultancy, supporting multiple clients at different stages of FinOps maturity
- FinOps certification (or strong motivation to achieve it) is a plus, or equivalent practical grounding in the FinOps Framework
- Able to build lightweight scripts or automation, with AI assistance, for client or internal use
- Awareness of AI cost management as an emerging FinOps domain
