Job Title: Project Manager (Retail Software)
Duration: 12-24 months
This global FMCG company is embarking on a 2 yr programme to deploy a new software solution to better manage their trade promotions across Europe. Project value is >£2m, with software being deployed across 15 European centres and including all associated business transformation, including design and implementation of new business workflows and processes.
Accordingly they need an accomplished and confident Project Manager with experience of managing the implementation of retail software solutions and especially the interfaces with associated ERP and other existing business systems.
Reporting to the overall Programme Director you will be representing the end client’s interests for all elements of this programme, which is currently in month 2 (the design phase, until March ‘15) of a 24 month plan.
We are looking for someone with the gravitas and communications skills to be instantly credible and effective, tenaciously holding all suppliers (software and consultancy services) accountable to the programme, as well as providing hands-on support, guidance and PM expertise where needed. This is most definitely a hands-on, delivery focused role (no ivory towers here!) with your core areas of responsibility including: Relationship Management; Project Governance and Compliance; Project Scope, Time and Cost Management (weekly reporting to senior stakeholders, via conf call); Resource Management; Vendor Management; Risk Management; Conflict / Problem Management; Communications; Project Review and Closeout; Mentoring & Coaching others where needed.
We’re not looking for a technical expert (ie you won’t be asked to write functional or tech spec’s) but you will need to understand how retail software integrates with complex, integrated ERP systems. You will however need demonstrable experience successfully delivering substantial IT projects for retail / CPG / FMCG clients, or related vendors, SI’s etc.
Finally you will also need prove your expertise in driving the associated business transformation, including leading the design and implementation of new business processes across European operations.
Mandatory Skills / Experience:
• At least 5 yrs experience Project Manager
• Thorough understanding of the retail / CPG / FMCG sector (ideally including trade promotions)
• Track record of successfully delivering retail software solutions, valued >£1m
• Experience delivering projects / programmes across Europe or globally
• Demonstrable experience managing Business Transformation projects
• Competent managing the design and implementation of new business processes and workflows.
We are ideally looking to appoint someone who is able to work on site (within the M60) full-time, but our client may also consider suitable candidates who need to work remotely a couple of days per week. There may be a little European travel, but this will certainly not be regular or prolonged.
