Role Description:  We are looking for an experienced Digital Designer Lead who can quickly interpret business needs and marketing briefs and turn them into compelling, digital-first creative design solutions for the Content Marketing & Digital Marketing teams. The focus of our Digital Design Lead is to create and manage the creative vision for our brand and to create digital assets that manifest that brand for use across marketing channels, multimedia, and graphics projects, including across websites, mobile apps, advertising, animation, emails, social media, videos, and interactive displays. 

Displaying the right combination of experience, innovation, authority and professionalism, our design lead will be part of the Marketing Leadership Team (reporting to the CMO), will manage one junior designer and will be expected to work with other internal UX/UI designers and external agency resource to ensure high quality of digital design work. Developing their digital design capability through leadership and inventive concepts, the aim of the role is to set online campaigns apart from those of competitors. The fullest understanding of graphic design, typography and digital design tooling and standards is as essential as the experience to execute projects of all sizes and complete them with resourcefulness and dedication.

The successful candidate will be able to offer an impressive portfolio demonstrating in-depth digital design capabilities, significant industry experience and substantial graphic design experience.

Job duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing digital design assets to deliver compelling online experiences
  • Support digital marketing teams to ensure beautifully designed, front-end website journeys optimised for lead acquisition using design software and wireframing tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver designs that are creative, useful, and align with technical and brand standards
  • Support the consolidation of our design style across all our products by working in collaboration with UX Design peers, product marketing, digital marketing, and front-end development. 
  • Take ideas from concept to execution, working with project managers, design colleagues, information technologists, and content experts to deliver an effective user experience
  • Use the latest software and applications to design and develop digital solutions. Demonstrable knowledge in the following software packages and of the following languages is expected: InDesign, Illustrator, HTML/CSS, Figma/Sketch
  • Optimise existing user interface designs to differentiate the website UX incl. responsive design methods
  • Online and offline brand guideline development and implementation
  • Plan and implement modern designs across all brand & marketing materials and channels
  • Optimize existing user interface designs on their main website incl. for responsive web designs
  • Design for supporting A/B tests for intuitive user experience
  • Communicate with stakeholders to understand their business goals and objectives
  • Combine creativity with an awareness of existing design elements
  • Create interactive prototypes for new website journeys
  • Staying up to date with industry trends, forging and executing exciting digital ideas
  • Test innovative ideas before implementing 

Requirements and qualifications:

Mandatory:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Digital Designer or similar role
  • Expertise in using wireframing tools (e.g., Wireframe.cc, Figma and InVision)
  • Expertise using Adobe Creative Suite (inc. InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop)
  • Some Content Management System (e.g., Drupal) experience – working understanding of how to perform administrative tasks, such as creating suitable assets
  • Demonstrable expertise in visual design principles
  • Expertise in designing website journeys and their contribution to lead generation / conversion
  • Experience of working to support performance marketing teams in agile environments
  • Comprehensive website/UI design portfolio
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to discuss and explain design options
  • Detail oriented, critical thinker, problem solver and customer-centred

Desirable:

  • Experience working with HTML5/CSS3 and awareness of PHP/MySQL
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Experience working with/for SaaS technology providers
  • Agency-side experience
