Strategic Account Director – Energy Consulting

This leading professional services consultancy are looking for an Account Director to lead their Energy sector’s business development and retention. This key position is far from a typical Account Director role and will suit an innovative thought leader from within the UK energy sector, with a strong solution sales focus and experienced in selling consulting services and technology based engineering solutions. In return, they’ll provide you with an exciting and rewarding challenge as part of their senior leadership function, within a dynamic, expanding business and offers the right individual the opportunity for further career progression, whilst influencing the growth and shape of the business.

Responsibilities:

On joining the business, you’ll be given a portfolio of warm clients to nurture and develop but importantly you’ll define and deploy the ‘go-to-market’ plan to develop existing customers and build new key account business. Key to this is your understanding of the Energy sector and in particular Transmission and Distribution Networks and Smart Grid technologies and solutions.

The primary task will be new business development including providing input and guidance into RFP and all associated proposals and contracts and refining the portfolio of service offerings and solutions to clients.

Other responsibilities include:

  • The creation of monthly revenue forecasts
  • Undertake project / commission review meetings to assess delivery against contracted scope, customer satisfaction and commercial terms
  • Provide project lifecycle guidance (including resource needs and revenue and income forecasting) and leadership from initial opportunity identification through bidding, execution and close-out

Successful candidates will have:

  • An in depth understanding of the Energy sector, including the associated regulation and legislation
  • A strong track record of business development including solution sales and consulting services
  • Results focused mindset
  • Strong client engagement at all levels of seniority
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to maximise employee output
  • University BEng or BSc degree in related subject preferred, ideally also a Chartered Engineer.

This role is home based, with a requirement for client visits throughout the UK and occasional meetings in the Midlands.
